Marine collagen is booming, but almost every product on the market is made from fish skin, which yields predominantly Type I collagen. That works for beauty and skin health. It doesn't work for joint or bone health, where brands need Type II collagen and bone-building minerals. To get those, they've had to rely on bovine or porcine sources, which exclude billions of consumers and carry contamination risk.
Mermaid Proteins solves this with a single ingredient: marine collagen peptides extracted from cod bone. Bone is where Types I, II, VI, XI, and XXII collagen naturally occur, alongside calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium. No fish skin product comes close in that regard. The result is a clean-label, marine-derived ingredient that finally makes joint and bone health formulations possible without animal-derived alternatives.
We source cod backbones from Scandinavia and convert them into high-purity collagen peptides sold in bulk to supplement and functional food brands across the World. Our production process uses no harmful chemicals and was designed with net-zero environmental impact in mind, making bone-derived collagen not just a better ingredient, but a more sustainable one.
